Centre under fire in RS over role of Arunachal, Uttarakhand Governors
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The role of Governors came into question in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday as it discussed the dismissal of governments in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, during which the Modi dispensation came under sharp attack for imposing the President's Rule which was quashed by the court.
The House saw a face-off between Congress and government, with the main opposition party alleged "trampling" of democracy by the BJP-led government which hit back by reminding that Congress had "butchered" democracy by misusing Article 356 about 100 times.
Congress pressed for a statement and "apology" by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for dismissing the party's governments in Arunachal Pradesh in December last year and then in Uttarakhand in January.
During the debate, several members questioned the need for having a Governor and sought a review of the Article under which Governors are appointed.
After about 4-and-a-half hours of discussion, a reply by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju was disrupted by the Congress which said it cannot allow him to speak as he was allegedly involved in the toppling of Arunachal Pradesh government.
Rijiju was replying to the discussion on the 'Developments in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh leading to the change in the ruling dispensations in the states and the role of the Governors there' on behalf of Home Minister Rajnath Singh who was on a visit to Pakistan.
Amid the din created by Congress, Rijiju said the protest was "unfortunate" and "exposes the hollowness of the basis on which the Congress party has tried to make this as an issue".
Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said Rijiju's hailing from Arunachal does not disqualify him from replying to a debate.
He asked Rijiju to give the reply after seeking the opinion from the other political parties including TMC, CPI-M, AIADMK and DMK who had no issues with it.
"I can postpone the reply only on consensus. There is no consensus. So he can reply," Kurien told the protesting Congress members who stormed the Well of the House.
On the allegation that Centre has toppled the governments in both the state, Rijiju said in the last 2 years, there have been 3 instances of President's Rule -- Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Earlier, the debate saw repeated clashes between the BJP and Congress members over the imposition of President's Rule in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh.
Attacking the government, Congress leader Kapil Sibal said, "We demand the Prime Minister should come to the House and explain and apologise to the country for what has happened."
"What happened was unheard in the history of India. Yes, 356 has been used and misused but this kind of mechanism never happened in history of India. And in the history of India this is for the first time that Supreme Court restored status quo ante which has also never happened in the history of India," the former Union Minister said.
He said even though Prime Minister was coming to Parliament, he has been avoiding the House.
"I am saddened that in such an important debate we would have expected the Prime Minister to be here. He should have been here and expalin why President's rule was imposed in the two states," Sibal said.
Accusing the government of engineering the episodes, he said, "You are treating your Governors as RSS pracharaks as agents and you are using the post of Governors to destabilise elected governments in this country..."
The Governors appointed by the government are raising issues like 'Love Jihad' or asking people to go to Bangladesh, he added. "Our Governors never did such things," Sibal said.
Neeraj Shekhar (SP) said BJP was committing the same mistakes that Congress had done and wanted apology from both the parties for misuse of Article 356.
MSEB to disconnect electricity in Arunachal Bhawan Mumbai
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: With the long pending electricity bill of Arunachal Bhawan Mumbai waiting to be cleared by the Arunachal government, Maharashtra State Electrical Board (MSEB) will soon disconnect its electricity connection. Fearing for the inevitable, Arunachal Students Union, Mumbai has appealed to the state government to clear the pending electricity bill.
Director USR Ltd. Group paid the electricity bill for two months after it was assured by the Governor and the CM that all the pending bills will be cleared and that a DRC will be posted to the Arunachal Bhavan soon.
‘The cancer patients staying in Arunachal Bhavan are from poor background and are in no position to stay in hotels. The deadline of paying the electricity bill is already over and MSEB may disconnect the electricity anytime,’ it pleaded.
CM constitutes committee to expedite land acquisition process
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: Chief Minister Pema Khandu constituted a nine-member committee of senior officers to frame a policy to fast track the land acquisition process for the army, paramilitary forces and other central govt organizations during a meeting with the General Officer Commanding 4 Corps, Lt General D Anbu here on Thursday.
The CM advised the committee to frame the policy in consultation with the Govt of India and submit the report within one month. This Policy would accelerate the land acquisition process by the Army and other Paramilitary Forces in the state, he said.
Pema asked Chief Secretary to create a separate division to look into the land acquisition process for army, paramilitary forces, SSB and other Central Govt Organizations.
He requested the Lt. General for expeditious disbursement of land compensation amount to the land owner to which the latter assured.
The CM further said that the State Government would extend every possible support to the army and also assured cooperation from the people of the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin and Principal Secretary (Home), Satya Gopal were present in the meeting.
Major reshuffle in police dept, suspended Anto Alphonse back
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: State govt has affected major reshuffle in the Police department.
According to sources, Tumme Amo has been assigned the task of SP, Papum Pare. He was looking after Tawang as SP, In charge following the suspension of IPS officer Anto Alphonse after brutal killing of two anti dam protestors by Tawang Police on May 2. Though there is no word from the govt on his alleged failure to control the police violence, the govt has made Alphonse as SP Telecom and commandant of 4th IRBN, Jully.
Manoj Kumar Meena will be the new SP of Tawang.
Dr A Koan will be the new SP of Capital Complex while PN Khrimey will take his place as SP West Kameng.
Jasmeet Singh has been assigned as the SP Crime, SIT, Police Modernisation and Principal PTC, Banderdewa.
CK Mein has been shifted from Longding to Namsai while Rohit Meena will be the new SP of Longding. Ved Prakash Surya has been sent to border district of Dibang Valley while Bomge Kamduk will look after Anjaw.
Mihin Gumbu has been posted to Kurung Kumey and Jitendra Kumar Meena will look after insurgency infested Tirap.

PPWC suspends proposed bandh
PASIGHAT, Aug 4: Commissioner, Power, Ashish Kundra while expressing grave concern over the erratic power supply to the centurion town Pasighat and its adjoining areas, informed that Chief Minister Pema Khandu has taken the issue seriously and has directed the concern department to complete 132kv Aalo-Pasighat tower line by December this year putting all efforts. He gave specific instructions to the concerned Chief Engineers and their associates to take suitable and appropriate steps to provide maximum power to the people stating that in these months of scorching heat and rise in temperature, the people need regular supply of electricity.
He was speaking at a high level meeting on Thursday in the DC’s conference hall in presence of DC in-charge Rahul Singh and reviewed the work of the power department, particularly the measures being undertaken to ensure regular supply of electricity.
PPWC members called off its proposed bandh on August-6 as the Commissioner gave assurance to address its demand at the earliest.
Kundra taking stock of the progress of 132kv tower line informed that the project is at the verge of completion and only seven towers are to be erected out of 190. Out of 77 kms, the department has competed 61 kms till date. All hydels would be renovated and made fully functional soon. 3MW Assam (Jonai) supply supposed to expired in October would be renewed and upgraded to 5MW if Jonai sub-station’s capacity permits. He also assured to obtain sanction from the union ministry for setting up a “Solar Power Plant” proposed by the Pasighat MLA soon in Pasighat, ensuring reliable power supply and mitigating the problems of the chronic power woes of the centurion town of Pasighat and its adjoining areas. The Commissioner while admitting that time to time shutdown was necessary to carryout maintenance works, has suggested to do it in between 6am and 11am so that people do not suffer due to long duration of power cuts.
Earlier, local MLA Kaling Moyong stated that coordination amongst administration, engineers and PPWC was essential and needs to review the power supply as well as the working of infrastructure at all levels and in case of any failure, immediate steps be taken to provide respite to the esteemed consumers. Conveying his gratitude to the CM Kandu, Moyong said that government has been very liberally providing funds for 132 KV Aalo-Pasighat tower line and more focus is on setting up of power generation projects and hence, the power department should complete the sanctioned projects on time. MLA asked the departmental engineers to provide maximum supply to the people with efficient management and distribution system.
Chief Engineer (Transmission, Monitoring and Planning), A. Perme and Chief Engineer Power Central Zone, T. Mara and SEs updated the Commissioner with progress reports and also hurdles being faced by them.
Pasighat People’s Welfare Committee (PPWC) Chairman Okom Yosung and General Secretary Oyin Moyong placing their grievances briefed the visiting Commissioner how people are suffering. The duo expressing their dismay apprised him that a series of coordination meetings were conducted but yielded no fruitful result so far.
PPWC, which is leading the consumer movement against the erratic power supply, said that it has no intention to call a bandh but the department always miserably fail to address their grievances. DIPRO
ANSU urges CM to address school problems
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: A team of All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) on Thursday called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu and submitted a memorandum urging him to take necessary initiative to improve the academic scenario in Nyishi majority districts by addressing the various problems faced by the schools and the students.
The major problems being faced by the almost all the schools were acute shortage of teachers and school infrastructure.
While submitting a detailed list of required teachers in various schools in five Nyishi majority districts and some parts of West Kameng, the ANSU memorandum stated that the schools have short fall of 31 subject teachers, which also include full-fledge Principals and Headmasters.
The memorandum stated that shortage of subject teachers and non-posting of full-fledge Principals and Headmaster has been adversely affecting the academic studies of students which has resultant in poor results.
ANSU lamented delay in regularization of various schools, which have been upgraded from secondary to higher secondary level. According to the union, Govt. Hr. Sec. School, ChayangTajo, Govt. Hr. Sec. School Muri Mugli and Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Ligu, which were upgraded during 2008 are yet to be regularized. The official file with regards to this has been reportedly lying unattended by Finance department, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh; the memorandum said and appealed Pema to accord topmost priority to this matter.
Informing that land encroachment has been one of the main problems faced by various schools, ANSU urged Pema to instruct the department concerned to construct the boundary wall of Government Hr. Sec. School Ligu, Upper Subansiri district.
Other demands of the union were to re-name Government Women's College, Lekhi after Padmashree Binni Yanga (Binni Yanga Women's College) in recognition of her outstanding contribution towards raising socio- economic status of women, welfare of poor, destitute women and the orphans, immediate construction of Archeological Transit Camp at Parsi Parlo.
Orgs raise funds for flood victims
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: A total of Rs 1,64,133/- was collected during a donation programme organized for the flood ravaged victims of Namsai and Changlang districts at various locations of Capital Complex and at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) on Aug 1. Rs 67 was added to the collected amount to make it a total of Rs 1,64,200/- and then it was equally divided and deposited in the official accounts of the respective DCs on Friday.
The donation programme was jointly organized by Tirap, Changlang, Longding and Namsai Students’ Union-RGU (TCLNSU-RGU), Hope Foundation (HF), Arunachal Sociological Forum (ASF) and Child Line Itanagar.
AKA celebrates inclusion of Karate in Tokyo Olympics
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: Arunachal Karate-Do- Association (AKA) on Thursday celebrated the inclusion of Karate in Tokyo Olympics, 2020.
The IOC on Wednesday approved addition of five sports, including Karate for the Tokyo Games. Karate has never been contested at the Olympics before.
Excited at the inclusion of the sport in Olympics, AKA President Shihan Likha Tara said that our Olympic dream has now become a reality.
Karate will have 80 athletes competing in men's and women's Kumite and Kata events.
Tara, who also is vice president of Karate Association of India, said that he was extremely excited after hearing the news, which the karate fraternity throughout the world has been anticipating for quite long time.
Terming the IOC’s decision as historic, Tara said “This could be possible because of the untiring efforts and campaign by World Karate Do Federation (WKF) president Antonio Espinos, its general secretary Toshihisa Nagura, Japan Karate Federation president Takashi Sasagawa, and KAI president R Thiagarajan and its general secretary Shihan Bharat Sharma at South Asian level.
Arunachal Pradesh is currently ranked 2nd in national karate ranking behind Madhya Pradesh. Karate is one of the most popular sports in the state and many karate players from the state have so far won several medals at top level international karate competitions.
Meanwhile, AKA has geared up activities by instructing all karate clubs across the state to start rigorous training of players.
It also appealed to the sports department to extend all possible help and assistance to AKA, including necessary infrastructure, to smoothly carry out its activities.
The event was attended by the AKA members, senior players, coaches and instructors.
Tirap remembers its former DC Kamlesh joshi
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The Tirap district administration organized a function in the new Mini Secretariat Block at Khonsa on 4th August to commemorate the 1st death anniversary of former Tirap district Deputy Commissioner late Kamlesh Joshi, IAS who was tragically killed in a chopper crash on 4th August last year.
While speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Ravi Jha recalled the contributions of late Joshi towards the development of Tirap district during his brief stint as the Deputy Commissioner.
He said that the first Block in the District Secretariat which is due for completion would be dedicated to the memory of late Joshi. The Deputy Commissioner told the participants that a DC’s medal for best student had has been instituted at KGBV Barap and KGBV Deomali in late Joshi’s memory.
On the same day, the second edition of Kamlesh Joshi Memorial District Level Badminton Tournament also kick-started at Officers’ Club. The tournament was inaugurated by retired Deputy Commissioner P. Hosai.
Tirap ZPC Sontung Bangsia in her speech said that late Kamlesh Joshi was very concerned for the people of Tirap district, especially the women and the downtrodden. She said that late Joshi maintained excellent rapport with the people and guided the Women’s organizations diligently.
Earlier, DIPRO Denhang Bosai read out the life history of late Kamlesh Joshi. 2 minute silent prayer was observed as a mark of respect to late Kamlesh Joshi. On the occasion an exhibition badminton doubles match was played between DC, Tirap and CO, 16 AR against CO 36 Bn CRPF and DSP Khonsa.
. It may be mentioned here that the MLA of 56-Khonsa West Tirong Aboh donated Rs. 1 lakh for renovation of the officers club. In Inaugural officers double match Dahey Sangno, PD and Denhang Bosai, DIPRO won the match in three sets.

RFGC retains ‘C’ grade in NAAC assessment
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The Rang-Frah Govt. College Changlang retained ‘C’ grade in its cycle-02 assessment and accreditation process conducted by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore. The college on the whole achieved a CGPA of 1.95 of the total 4.
Earlier, a three-member NAAC peer team headed by Chairperson Prof. J. Prabhash who is also Director, School of Social Science, Department of Political Science, University of Kerala had visited the college on April 13 and 14 last. The accreditation of the college by NAAC will be valid for a period of five years. The college in its previous accreditation in the year 2009 had also achieved ‘C’ grade from NAAC.
Big wins for Solung Yameng Aro and Donggin Yameng
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: Solung Yameng Aro and Donggin Yameng registered big wins over their respective opponents in the on going Itanagar Solung Football Tournament at APPBn Ground, Chimpu near here on Thursday.
Solung Yameng Aro beat RGU FC by 4-0 in the first match of the day while Donggin Yameng grounded Kine Nane FC 5-0 in the second match.
Raja Tassung netted two goals while Katem Dai and Vijay Jamoh scored a goal each for Solung Yameng Aro team.
Katem Dai was adjudged as the player of the match.
For Donggin Yameng, Talong Padu (3 goal) and John Passar (2 goal) were the scorers.
Passar was adjudged as player of the match.
Otil Perme was shown yellow card by the referee.
Naharlagun FC will face Nulu Nubu FC at 2 pm and Solung United FC will be up against Donggin Ao FC at 3.30 pm on Friday.
Siyom Banggo Football Championship Running Trophy starts
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The second Siyom Banggo Football Championship Running Trophy was kicked off on Wednesday by Siang DC, Rahul Singh amidst a huge gathering at Pessing general ground.
The DC was accompanied by ZPC, Opung Jerang, SP, D Jini and various HoDs.
Altogether 18 teams from various parts of the district are participating in the tournament which is organized by Solung Festival Celebration Committee, Pessing and sponsored by Koze Zanggo Society.
While urging the players to maintain sportsmanship spirit, the DC said that participation is more important than victory. He also advised the youths to stay away from drugs and alcohol for a healthy mind and body.
On the occasion, Chairman of the Sports Organizing Committee, Disi Tatin submitted a two-point memorandum wherein he sought early construction of a rostrum and public toilet at the Pessing general ground.
During the inaugural match, the defending champions Pangkeng Youth Club ‘A’ team registered a comfortable 3-0 win over Government Higher Secondary School, Pessing team ‘B’.
The final match of the month-long tournament will be played on Sept 3 next on the eve of Solung. The winning team of the tournament will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 while, the Runners up will be given Rs. 30,000 along with a trophy each.
Review meeting of DLSMC on Mid-Day-Meal
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: A review meeting of the District Level Steering-cum-Monitoring Committee (DLSMC) on Mid-Day-Meal was held under the chairmanship of Papum Pare DC, SK Singh in the DC’s conference hall on Thursday.
The meeting which was attended by DDSE, DMO, DF&CSO of Papum Pare, DDSE of Yupia, Capital Complex and Capital Division, EE PHED, aimed at ensuring effective implementation of national flagship programme in the district.
In the meeting, Papum Pare DC suggested many tips such as implementation of weekly menu in the schools while, BEO (MDM) presented status report of Mid-Day-Meal scheme.
It was also decided in the meeting that the Food Corporation of India, Banderdewa depot will be approached to release food grains in the first week of every quarter to avoid the delay release of the food grain at the school level. Monitoring and evaluation of the MDM scheme will also be done by concern administrative officer along with the BEOs, BRCCs, URCC of concern circles. Moreover, the monthly progress report along with surprise inspection report for implementation of MDM scheme should be submitted to the DC in the first week of every following month. Buffer stock of food grain should be maintained in interior schools of the district to use during any kind of interruption in flow of food grain.
DC visits police station, school and PHC at Bana
SEPPA, Aug 4: East Kameng DC, Rajeev Takuk took stock of various government facilities here at Bana.
Accompanied by SP, T. Konia, EAC-cum-BDO, A. Taba, ADI (Dev), N. Doka, the DC inspected the police station and enquired about the power connection, water supply, staff quarters and location for proposed check gate.
He directed the ADI (Dev) to write to the PHED and Power department for water and power supply respectively. He further suggested the EAC to write to the Forest Department for allotting some of their buildings for temporary accommodation of the police personnel. He verified the proposed location for installation of check gate and directed the OC to prepare a detailed design with proper specification for onward action. He suggested using the unutilized AWC building as sentry room and forest check gate for the time being. He also directed the EAC to prepare an estimate for a room for installing CCTV and record room.
At PHC Bana, he enquired about the staff strength, power and water supply, availability of medicines, accommodation, number of institutional delivery and other issues. He directed the EAC to sort out the problem of accommodation of the health staffs. While inspecting the GSS, Bana, he interacted with the students and exhorted them to always learn new things and improve their knowledge. He further directed the EAC to initiate a necessary process for construction of teachers’ barrack, boundary fencing and separate toilets for girl students.(DIPRO)
Benji-Liine-A potential cultural heritage site

AALO, Aug 4: Benji-Liine, nestled in a hillock near the beautiful confluence of Sisa and Siyik rivers at a place called Saayi in between Poyom and Boru Raksap village amid rich varieties of flora and fauna is a sacred place for the tribal people and one of the most potential destinations for tourists.
It has withstood test of time and continue to kindle tribal faith, myths and spirit of life from time immemorial. It is intricately woven in our myths and mythologies and stands today as epitome of sagacity and benevolence embedded deep into tribal psyche and philosophy of life.
It is located at a distance of about 45 km from the district headquarters Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh and takes a foot march of 8 km from Darak circle to the holy site of Benji Liine.
The word ‘Benji’ signifies supernatural power that has been the guiding force behind the existence of tribal society through the ages and ‘Liine’ denotes a miraculous ‘Mother Stone’ bearing seven offspring. These off springs are locally named as Jibi, Jizab, Jipu, Jiji,Jipo, Jinya and Jiyi. This Mother Stone measuring 1.5 ft in height and around 2 ft in width bears white colour on the top of the head while the left side of the stomach is broken but it has been rejoined to regain its originality.
Of late, the colour on the top of its head is gradually fading away due to excessive pouring of oil as part of rituals by the devotees coming from various parts of the country.
In the absence of written history and literature, we delve into oral literature passed down from generation to generation and legend reveals various miraculous feats of Benji Liine.
It is said that many years ago, entire stretch of jungle, including this holy site was brought under jhum cultivation by the villagers. People were surprised and taken aback when they found the entire jungle caught fire except the grasses surrounding the hill top, where the stone is situated. This forced the main Priest to conduct a chicken liver examination, a traditional practice of tribal people to go in details into omen attached to it and the test proved myth, spiritual and divine power in it. Later, the stone which was popularly known as ‘Saayi Liine’ was named as Benji Liine and it became a shrine for the devotees.
The legend also reveals startling facts and instances that prove divine power in Benji Liine.
It is said that a young damsel, Nyarik Boje was forced into marriage with an old man by her parents to her utter dislike and dismay. She opposed it bitterly and one day she ran away from the village in protest against such marriage and went to Benji-Liine site. She picked up one of the stones named Jibi and threw it into the Sisa River with an intention to commit suicide. Surprisingly, the daughter stone Jibi came back to its original seat and the girl, who threw the stone into the river became sick and remained insane for many years. The girl could be cured only after performing rituals by the priest and village elders.
It is also believed that people who are destined to live a long life cannot lift the stone above the level of shoulder and one who lifts it above the shoulder is an indicative of leading a short span of life.
It is said that once a young man had lifted the Benji-Liine above his head and it fell down after lifting and the left side of the stomach of the stone was damaged in the process. The man, who lifted Benji Liine died soon after reaching his home.
There is also a strong belief that barren couple for five to ten years who offers prayers whole heartedly at Benji-Liine got blessed with offsprings after prayers.
It is also said that once a couple picked up one of the offsprings of Benji-Liine for their sons to play and kept the stone on the side of the wall. In the mid night horrible cries and noises of chickens and fowls were heard all over and when they rushed out, they found that all chickens and fowls were lying dead inside the cages. Surprisingly they also found that particular stone inside the cage. The stone moved away from the cage after few hours and returned to its original location.
The Benji Liine still continues to cast its magical and divine spell on the mindset of the people and all passersby either stop or make a passing glance to offer oral prayers:-
“Oh Benji Liine gently you beholds and beckons in solitude;
To unveil treasure trove of love, solace and comforts;
The murmuring and whispering prayers we offer by heart;
For divine spell you cast for humanity through the ages;
Stay awake as epitome in all realms of ventures we make;
To your Graceful tradition and sagacity till eternity;
There is no dearth of societal efforts to up keep its traditional sagacity to promote it as a Tribal Cultural Heritage Centre and a potential tourist destination.
The Benji Liine Develop Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Dejar Poyom and the committee is running from pillar to post to get it recognized as Tribal Heritage with a Prayer Centre and educate infrastructure. But till now nothing concrete could be done to promote and protect it as a sacred place. (The author is DIPRO, Aalo)
BJP office inaugurated
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Longding district unit President, Tanpho Wangnaw inaugurated the party’s new office building near DDSE office, Longding on Thursday in presence of all the district and Mandal executive party members and hundreds of BJP Karyakartas.
Speaking on the occasion, Wangnaw highlighted about the various achievement of the BJP government in the past two years. He also urged all the party workers and supporters to dedicate their time and energy for strengthening the party in the district. General Secretary (Adm), Chemnga Wangpan, General Secretary (Org), Kailem Wangsu and Vice President, Pankhu Wangsu also spoke on the occasion.
Orgs visit school
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The Ramle Banggo Students’ Union along with Ramle Banggo Social Environment and Protection Society visited the schools of Ramle Banggo area on July 8 and 15 last. During the visit, they observed that the schools suffered from shortage of teachers, insufficient water supply, improper electrification, insufficient classrooms.
‘Most of the schools had no boundary wall and with insufficient school infrastructure,’ both the organizations added.

Subject teachers sought
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: The All Tagin Students’ Union (ATSU) has sought subject teachers at Govt Higher Secondary School, Daporijo.
Students are facing hardships in completion of their course, it said in its representation to the director of secondary education (DSE).
Teachers for Geography, Physics and Hindi subjects retired last year while the school has no English teacher since long, the representation reads.
ATSU along with students of GHSS Daporijo on earlier occasions submitted memorandum to the DSE regarding the demand which is yet to be fulfilled.
ATM demanded
ITANAGAR, Aug 4: A team of All kra Daadi District Students’ Union (AKDDSU) on Thursday met the Manager of SBI Regional Office here and submitted a memorandum demanding installation an additional ATM and customer service point at temporary headquarters of Kra Daadi district Palin.
Highlighting the difficulties being faced by the bank customers during their financial transaction, the students urged the Bank officials to provide one more ATM in Palin in addition to one and only ATM in entire district, which is installed inside the bank.
The bank manager as assured to visit Palin and install one more ATM booth and customer service point as soon as possible, the union informed.

Arunachal need an stable government
After much suspense and growing uneasiness, the cabinet expansion of Pema Khandu
government was done on Wednesday. Ten ministers namely Tanga Byaling, Rajesh Tacho,
Nabam Rebia, Honchun Ngandam, Wangki Lowang, Kamlung Mossang, Tapang Taloh, Kumar
Waii, Takam Pario and Jomde Kena were sworn-in by the Govenor Tatagatha Roy at Rajbhawan.
Two posts has been kept vacant for now. It is believed that there was intense lobbying
for the ministerial posts with allegation that Congress high command pushed for some
of the candidates.
Even though ministers have been sworn in they are yet to be given portfolios. There
might be another round of battle for the portfolio. After that the lobbying for
parliamentary secretary posts will start. One can only hope that greedy and selfish
MLAs will not start another political crisis over the ministerial berths. The Congress
MLAs from both Nabam Tuki and Kalikho Pul camp came together to elect Pema Khandu
as the Chief Minister. Now they should give him free hand to run the state. Arunachal
desperately need a stable government. State has suffered a lot in the last one year
due to political battle. Governance has virtually taken back seat. It’s time politicians
wake up from deep slumber and work for the welfare of the people of state. For their
selfish motive they should stop taking development of state to ransom. The people
of state is silently observing the whole game and at right time they will punish
the politicians.

Unfair recruitment
Dear Editor,
I would like to draw the attention of the concern authority regarding recent appointment
of candidates for the post of Technical Assistant (J.E) in various districts by the
department of Panchayat Raj, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh wide order no. PR-RGPSA
(TA) 670/2014(pt)/294 Dt. Itanagar 13 July 2016.
They have been appointed without any recruitment procedure or advertisement followed.
In the earlier advertisement wide no. PR-RGPSA(TA)670/2014 DT. 21 JAN 2014 for the
same posts, the dept had mentioned that the applying candidates have to be domiciles
of concern districts. Whereas according to above mention recent appointment order,
some candidates are non domicile of Changlang, Tirap, Longding whereas they have
been appointed against the districts.
The appointment has been made without any advertisement. Its totally injustice to
the aspiring domicile candidate of the concern districts.
Therefore, I would like to approach the higher authorities through this column to
cancel the appointment orders and advertise the post in accordance with the recruitment
procedure.

Fraudulent Practices
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed newspaper, I would like to put some light on Telecom Service
Provider. I dont have much knowledge though it seems unfair if I let this go. Most
of the times our providers send messages about various offers like SMS, Recharge
balance, miscall alerts, Mobiclips etc. Currently I am using Aircel and since last
two months my balance were deducted in the name of subscriptions.
I had no idea that I had activated all these services because honestly speaking I
have no use of such services. If I ever want to download a song or video I would
hit google and download. Why waste my money on such services that too deducting my
Main Balance. It seems fraud to me. Only the younger generation and educated ones
may give some thoughts about missing balance. The village people, uneducated and
rich ones may not even know or judge. If such is the case then think of how much
balance has been deducted up till now for services we dont even use.
Even one rupee can help us make important calls.

Loopholes in Child Labour bill
Dear Editor,
When India badly needs a stringent child labour law to rescue her child workers,
it is really unfortunate that she is to get a new Child Labour (Prohibition and amendment)
Bill 2016 with big loopholes like allowing child labour in "home enterprises" and
in agriculture and vanishing the tag of 'hazardous' for 80 out of 83 prohibited activities.
Unfortunately, these loopholes will further strengthen the vicious cycle of poverty.
Child labour causes unemployment (by blocking employment of an employable person),
labour exploitation (as a child gets much less remuneration than an adult) and unskilled
and unhealthy future labour force (as a child worker cannot get necessary rest, education
and skills). With 10.2 million child workers and 40 million malnourished children,
India is going to face the music of stunted workforce. A dismal future of our country
is being constructed by failing the future citizens of India.

Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to share some knowledge about
local medicinal plants. There are many valuable plants but people don’t know their
value. Limited knowledge by local people is due to lack of proper awareness about
medicinal plants and its uses. Hence, some medicinal plants are destroyed unknowingly
during deforestation and shifting agriculture period. It is duty of everyone to save
it. It is a fact that some local medicinal plants are better than allopathic medicine.
Such plants cure a lot of health problems without having to go to hospital or losing
single paise.
In this regard, I would like to highlight about some available local medicinal plants
that are growing naturally in our surrounding area. Some certified medicine plants
by the state medicine plant board are (1). Solanum spirale roxb. (Local name bangko
anne/okobang) used in stomachache, indigestion. decoction leaf is given to lower
high blood pressure too. (2)Solanum nigrum linn (Yanga/okomamang/hore) used in antiseptic,
tonic, cough, vomiting, skin diseases, regulation of BP, fever, diarrhea, rat bite)
(3). Argreia nervosa (Nanaporang/natapurang) use as brain tonic, intellect promoting,
nerve tonic, anti-inflammatory. (4). Pothos scandens linn. (haat jura lota) use:-
leaf paste is used in treating bone fracture.
I sincerely appeal to state medicine plant board, Govt. of Arunachal for conducting
some awareness camp in rural areas so that people will get more knowledge about medicinal
plants and preserve.

Dear Editor,
With increasing hostility between India, Pakistan and China; many has been suggesting
cutting off diplomatic ties with these hostile nations. Both China and Pakistan have
direct conflicts of interestswith India and hence non-supportive to Indian causes.
A modern, democratic nation state such as India with strong global aspirations and
increasing support from powerful western democracies cannot cut off diplomatic ties
even with its two perpetual enemies tied together in a marriage of convenience globally
known as China-Pakistan evil nexus. Both these nations are getting increasingly isolated
at the global platform and have decided to peruse disastrous, self-destructive and
jingoistic relationship with all their immediate neighbours, not just India. Pakistan
is getting engulfed in a perennialstruggle with Afghanistan; while, China is locking
horns with a powerful US and allies in the South and East China Sea. Under these
circumstances, India should not be bothered about the foreign policy failures of
these two nations and consolidate on her unprecedented global support recently received
from numerous countries across all the continents, keep strengthening her economy,
protect her borders and further build her military capabilities. Nations supporting
wrong causes will be haunted by their own evil deeds and ideologies in due course
of time. If there be a break up of diplomatic tires, let that come from Pakistan
and China. India, as the world’s largest democracy will further demonstrate to the
whole world the global danger to peace and stability from an malicious Pakistan-China-North
Korea axis. Pakistan could never get out of the terror business that it has diligently
raised through decades as part of an Industrial Terrorism program that is a revenue
generator for the country; and a significant shareholder of its national budget and
GDP on which the nation thrives politically, economically, socio-culturally and militarily.
China has serious issues of forcibly suppressing vast oceans of lies, corruption,
malpractices and democratic aspirations of the common people. The current Chinese
regime is sitting on the tip of an iceberg of mass dissent and state sponsored closely
guarded secrets that could ravage the nation in future. Hence both of them are afraid
as well as jealous of a rising India. Without further delay, India needs to establish
strong socio-cultural and economic exchanges as well as strengthening diplomatic
and security ties with the nations in this region. However, in diplomacy direct confrontations
are avoided and common grounds are identified to work together. Indian science and
technological developments have great attraction in China and is an important area
in which India has huge potential to develop and grow with China. Both India and
China are major global powers and need to work together and in a responsible manner
for global peace and security.

Population: 13 lakh
Citizens : Confused, frustrated & unrest
Development: too slow with given central funds.
Roads: pathetic
Services: normal
Govt: not static as it keeps changing
Corruption: Rampant
Ministers: happy for their life, but feelings for the state and its people seems
far away.
Capital city: poor and narrow roads but filled with Toyota fortuner and other SUVs.
With so much of funds that we get from centre why is my govt not capable of handling
13lakh population? Why do they fail? Don’t they have feeling for their own state?
Are they not sad that our state is so poor compared to other North East states?
Please dear ministers; we just want good governance and your sincere dedication towards
our state and its people.
